The Kansas City RoyalsLorenzo Cain was diagnosed with a grade-2 strain in his right hamstring, as reported by Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

This report was courtesy of a day-after report on Cain after he was initially hurt. The indication for Cain is that he may be done for the season. With this injury, it would most likely be a platoon at center field and consistent playing time for left fielder Jeff Francoeur.

While playing, Cain was one of few lone spots for the Royals this season. Cain was hitting .266, 7 HRs, 31 RBIs, and 10 SBs before going down. He played only 61 games and had 222 at-bats.

Currently, the Royals are third in the AL Central with a losing record of 65-78. The pressure to get Cain back this year will be minimal with nothing to play except as a spoiler to other playoff teams.
