After almost two full seasons missed to hip and elbow injuries, New York Yankees reliever David Aardsma is set to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, reports Erik Boland of Newsday:

Aardsma, 30, has not thrown a pitch in a major league game since September 19, 2010. A hip surgery to repair a torn labrum in late 2010 and Tommy John surgery in July of last year have kept the right-hander off the baseball field for two years.

Signed by New York to a $500k deal in the offseason, Aardsma was originally slated to make his Yankee debut sometime in July. But setbacks in his Tommy John recovery made any return at all this season questionable.

A six-year major league veteran (so far as actual playing time goes), Aardsma holds a 4.20 ERA, 9.1 K/9 and 5.0 BB/9 in just over two hundred sixty-five career innings.
