The Atlanta Braves have recalled young right-hander Randall Delgado from Triple-A Gwinnett, the team has announced:
RHP Randall Delgado has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. He will join the bullpen.

The 22-year-old Delgado, who was nearly traded to the Chicago Cubs for Ryan Dempster at the trade deadline, will provide the Braves with a much-needed fresh arm for their depleted bullpen. The right-hander spent the first half of the season in the Braves' rotation, posting a 4.42 ERA, 7.2 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 in seventeen starts, but was demoted in mid-July to make room for Ben Sheets.
Delgado has continued to struggle with his command since returning to Triple-A, walking 4.3 per nine in just over forty-four innings of work, but has also seen his strikeout numbers increase to better than a batter an inning. Overall, the right-hander has a 4.03 ERA in eight starts for Gwinnett.
Delgado will be working out of the bullpen for the first time since he made a single relief appearance in rookie league ball in 2007.
