The New York Yankees have released outfielder Kosuke Fukudome, reports Mike Vander Woude of the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate:

Fukudome signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox this offseason, but was released by the club in June after hitting only .171/.294/.195 with one double over forty-one at-bats. The 35-year-old then signed on with the Yankees in July.

Fukudome’s numbers improved at the Triple-A level, as he hit .276/.440/.378 with five doubles, one triple and two home runs. However, the Yankees decided to cut the veteran loose.

Over parts of four seasons with the Chicago Cubs, Fukudome hit at a clip of .262/.369/.403. After less-than-stellar stints with the Cleveland Indians and White Sox, the outfielder’s career line sits at .258/.359/.395.
