Brad Barr-US PRESSWIRE

There were some minor moves on Saturday.

Here are a few transactions that might have flown under the radar on Saturday:

  • The Los Angeles Angels agreed to a minor-league deal with pitcher Fernando Cabrera, reports Jon Heyman. Cabrera, 31, has a major-league record of 8-7 with a 5.24 ERA and a 9.9 K/9 in his major league career. Cabrera last appeared in the majors in 2010 as a member of the Boston Red Sox.
  • Mark Hendrickson will receive a tryout with the Baltimore Orioles during their mini-camp next week according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. Hendrickson, 39, is 58-74 with a 5.03 ERA in his 10-year career. He last pitched in 2011 with the Orioles. Hendrickson, who is 6'9", is trying to reinvent himself as a sidearmer after Buck Showalter suggested he make the change, reports Kubatko.
  • Thomas Neal was released by the Cleveland Indians in order to make room for Nick Swisher, who was signed earlier in the month, the club announced. Neal, 25, appeared in nine games for Cleveland last year and hit .217/.250/.261 in 24 plate appearances. He hit well at Double-A Akron, recording a .314/.400/.467 line with 12 home runs in 470 plate appearances. The Indians are interested in resigning Neal.
