The Arizona Diamondbacks and J.J. Putz have agreed to a one-year extension that will keep him with the club through 2014, the team announced Monday. Putz will make $7 million in 2014, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

Putz, 35, was 1-5 with a 2.82 ERA and 32 saves last season. He also struck out 10.8 batters per nine innings. Putz joined the Diamondbacks prior to the 2011 season and has recorded 77 saves as the teams closer. He was originally signed to a two-year, $10 million deal and general manager Kevin Towers exercised his $6.5 million club option for 2013 in October.

For his career, Putz is 33-31 with a 3.04 ERA and 183 saves in 10 seasons. His best year came in 2007 when he recorded a 6-1 record with a 1.38 ERA and 40 saves for the Mariners.

The Diamondbacks have added Heath Bell from the Marlins and Tony Sipp from the Indians in trades this year to help bolster their bullpen.
