Maine, 31, has not set foot on a big-league mound since the 2010 season, when he made just nine starts and amassed a 6.13 ERA for the New York Mets. The tall right-hander has bounced around between the Rockies, Red Sox, Yankees, and Marlins' organizations since then, only actually taking the mound for Colorado and the Bronx Bombers.
Maine broke into the big leagues with the Orioles in 2004 and got his first full season under his belt with the Mets in 2006. The right-hander posted a nice 4.01 ERA in his first four seasons in New York, but increasing control problems led the club to part ways with him.
Maine was terrible in his 2011 stint with the Rockies' Triple-A club, but turned things around some this year in the Yankees' farm system. Maine made 15 starts and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, amassing a 4.91 ERA and 7.5 K/9 rate in 79⅔ innings.
