The Los Angeles Angels are giving left-handed pitcher JoJo Reyes his unconditional release in order to allow him to sign with the SK Wyverns of the Korean League, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Reyes signed a minor league contract with the Angels in November. The deal included an invitation to major league spring training.

Reyes did not appear at the major league level in 2012, as he spent the year between three levels of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ minor league system. In 21 combined appearances, including nine starts, for the Pirates’ rookie level, low- and Triple-A clubs, Reyes maintained an ERA of 2.51 with 7.1 strikeouts and 2.1 walks per nine innings.

Reyes came up in the Atlanta Braves’ farm system, and he started 35 games for the club from 2007-09. His most extensive stint at the major league level came in 2011 when he appeared in 29 games, including 25 starts, for the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

The 28-year-old owns a career ERA of 6.05 with 5.8 strikeouts and 3.9 walks over parts of five seasons in the majors.
