Daisuke Matsuzaka rumors: Indians, Marlins, Mets in?

The veteran right-hander is getting calls from several clubs, both here and abroad.

Daisuke Matsuzaka's six-year tenure with the Boston Red Sox did not end well, but that has not stopped teams from showing an interest in the right-hander.

Dice-K is drawing interest from the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, and several Japanese clubs, but the veteran and his representatives are only talking with the Cleveland Indians, Miami Marlins, and New York Mets, reports Adam Rubin of the New York Post:

Rubin adds that a Mets insider relayed to him that the club had not talked to Matsuzaka "at all," which leaves some doubt about the credence of the rest of the information. In the same article, Dice-K is quoted as saying there is "almost zero" chance that he will return to the Red Sox for a seventh season.

After a great first two seasons in Boston -- coming in fourth in the 2008 AL Cy Young voting -- Dice-K's Red Sox career went off the rails. In his final four, injury-plagued years with the club, Matsuzaka made just 55 starts, posting a 5.53 ERA, 1.2 HR/9 rate and 4.5 BB/9 rate over 296 innings.
