Former Astros closer could be a fit in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Giants and Brandon Lyon are in "deep discussions", according to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com. Lyon signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Astros prior to the 2010 season.

Lyon, 33, was 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 61 innings of work last season. He spent the year between the Astros and the Blue Jays, who acquired him in July in a 10-player deal that saw Francisco Cordero, Ben Francisco and five minor leaguers head to Houston.

In his career, the right-hander is 40-45 with a 4.12 ERA and 79 saves in 647 innings of work. He has spent his 11 seasons with the Blue Jays, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Tigers and Astros.

If he does sign with San Francisco, the club does not expect to make any more moves, which would end former closer Brian Wilson's tenure in the Bay. Wilson pitched in only two games in 2012, before being shut down for the season. Wilson worked out for the Mets earlier in the week, but they came away unimpressed.
