Morosi adds that it’s unclear how the Indians’ recent signing of Brett Myers will impact their pursuit of Marcum.
Marcum is considered to be one of the top free agent starting pitchers remaining on the market. He was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers in December of 2010 from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for third baseman Brett Lawrie.
Marcum spent the past two seasons with the Brewers, maintaining an ERA of 3.60 over 54 starts. Last year the 31-year-old posted an ERA of 3.70 over 21 starts.
Over seven seasons at the major league level, Marcum owns a career ERA of 3.76 with 7.3 strikeouts and 2.8 walks per nine innings.
