Diamondbacks rumors: Martin Prado, Rick Porcello, Nick Ahmed

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The Diamondbacks work doesn't appear to be done yet, as they eye Detroit Tigers right-hander Rick Porcello and an extension with Martin Prado.

The Arizona Diamondbacks' work doesn't appear to be done even after completing their blockbuster trade with the Braves that sent outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson to Atlanta.

Arizona will now attempt to flip prospects to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for right-hander Rick Porcello, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Meanwhile, Jack Magruder of FOX Sports Arizona is reporting that the Diamondbacks expect to work out a contract extension with newly-acquired third baseman Martin Prado.

Nightengale notes that the Braves would likely send Nick Ahmed, who they acquired in the Upton trade, and a pitching prospect to the Tigers in exchange for Porcello.

The Braves selected Ahmed in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old spent the 2012 season with Atlanta's high-A affiliate, hitting .269/.337/.391 with 36 doubles, four triples and six home runs.

Magruder reports Arizona expects to reach an agreement on a multi-year extension with Prado. The 29-year-old is currently set to hit the free agent market after the season, and Magruder notes that the expectation of an extension was the only way a deal with the Braves would have been made.
