The Tampa Bay Rays have re-signed designated hitter Luke Scott to a one-year deal, according to Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times.

Scott will earn $2.75 million in his second go-around with the Rays, per Topkin.

Tampa Bay had been seeking a designated hitter throughout the offseason, and it was reported yesterday that they and Scott had mutual interest in a reunion.

Scott signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Rays last offseason. The slugger went on to hit .229/.285/.439 with 22 doubles and 14 home runs over 314 at-bats.

While his 2012 performance wasn't exactly spectacular, Scott does have a track record of success in the American League East. The 34-year-old was acquired by the Baltimore Orioles prior to the 2008 season, and he hit .260/.342/.485 during his time with the club. Scott averaged 25 home runs per season from 2008-10, and he hit .284/.368/.535 with 29 doubles and 27 home runs during the 2010 season.

The Rays' deal with Scott was their second re-signing of the day, as Tampa Bay reached an agreement on a one-year contract with right-handed reliever Kyle Farnsworth this morning
