The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated first baseman Lars Anderson for assignment.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated first baseman Lars Anderson for assignment, the team has announced. The move leaves the Diamondbacks with a full 40-man roster.

Anderson's time with the Diamondbacks was short, as the 25-year-old was acquired by the club on Dec. 11 as part of the three-team trade that also involved the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. This transaction marked the second trade Anderson was a part of in less than five months, as the Indians had acquired him from the Boston Red Sox last July.

Anderson has spent small parts of three seasons at the major league level with the Red Sox, as he's registered only 48 at-bats from 2010-12. He's managed eight hits, including one double, during that span, but most of his professional career has been spent in the minors.

Anderson spent a majority of the 2012 season with the Triple-A affiliates of the Red Sox and Indians. He hit .250/.353/.396 with 27 doubles and nine home runs over 396 at-bats. The former top prospect has hit .272/.369/.432 over six seasons at the minor league level.
