The Baltimore Orioles might have missed their target with outfielder Jason Kubel, but they have landed some depth for their rotation.

Baltimore has agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with Jair Jurrjens with a base salary of $1.5 million, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. With incentives, the deal could reach $4 million.

Jurrjens hit free agency after the Atlanta Braves declined to offer him a contract for the 2013 season.

The 26-year-old right-hander had a disaster season in Atlanta, tossing 48⅓ innings and getting tattooed to the tune of 13.4 H/9 and 1.5 HR/9. Jurrjens is a fly-ball pitcher, but both totals were far beyond his career rates of 8.8 H/9 and 0.8 HR/9. Furthermore, the northpaw saw his walk rate increase and his strikeouts take a significant dip as his fastball velocity continued to slip.

Though Jurrjens was once considered an important young cog in the Braves' rotation, and despite an All-Star campaign in 2011, injuries have diminished his time on the field and, perhaps, his abilities. Jurrjens has a balky right knee that has required one meniscal surgery and has had multiple bouts of inflammation, and he missed 33 days last season with a strained right groin.
