The San Francisco Giants avoided arbitration with infielder Joaquin Arias.
Haft adds that the Giants and Arias settled at the midpoint of their arbitration filings.
Arias signed as a free agent with the Giants last offseason. He hit .270/.304/.389 with 13 doubles, three triples and five home runs over 319 at-bats.
Prior to joining San Francisco, Arias had spent parts of four seasons at the major league level with the Texas Rangers and New York Mets. He was signed out of the Dominican Republic by Texas, and came up in their system as a top prospect.
However, after making his debut in 2006, Arias only totaled 227 at-bats for the Rangers from 2006-2010. He was selected off waivers by the Mets in 2010 and spent the entire 2011 season with the Kansas City Royals' Triple-A affiliate.
At this point, the only unresolved arbitration case remaining for the Giants is right-handed reliever Sergio Romo.
