Yankees rumors: Delmon Young, Matt Diaz

New York is still looking for a right-handed bat, but has "no interest" in Delmon Young.

The New York Yankees are still on the prowl for a right-handed outfield bat -- even after adding veteran Matt Diaz on a minor-league deal -- but have no interest in adding free-agent outfielder Delmon Young, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post:

Sherman adds that the Yankees view Young as a "horrible" outfielder and that his arrest in April related to an anti-semitic rant makes him "untenable" in New York City.

After putting together a surprisingly solid 2012 postseason -- earning the ALCS MVP -- the 27-year-old Young has had a decidedly less stellar offseason. The left fielder plead guilty to aggravated harassment in early November -- stemming from the above-mentioned rant -- and it was reported earlier this week that the Atlanta Braves are also disinterested in Young.

The Mariners were tied to Young early on this winter but they have added two outfielders since then, so are likely out on him as well.

Young hit .267/.296/.411 with 18 home runs in 151 games for the Detroit Tigers in 2012, which was only slightly worse than his career line.
