San Francisco Giants right-handed reliever Sergio Romo was handcuffed and detained New Year’s Day after allegedly becoming belligerent with a TSA officer at the Las Vegas airport.

UPDATE 2/4 9:00 a.m. ET: Giants closer Sergio Romo will not face charges in conjunction with a New Year's Day incident at Las Vegas airport in which he became "belligerent" with a TSA officer, reports TMZ:

A rep for the Clark County District Attorney's office tells us ... Romo will NOT be charged due to a "lack of prosecutorial resources."

The rep explains, "We simply do not have the manpower or resources to go forward on every case ... and must weigh the value, provability, and seriousness of each case accordingly."

Romo is expected to report to spring camp with the rest of the Giants' pitching staff next week.

Original Story: San Francisco Giants right-handed reliever Sergio Romo was handcuffed and detained New Year’s Day after allegedly becoming belligerent with a TSA officer at the Las Vegas airport, reports TMZ:

World Series hero Sergio Romo was handcuffed New Year's Day at the Las Vegas airport ... TMZ has learned -- after allegedly becoming belligerent with a TSA officer.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Romo was detained by police because he couldn’t provide the proper ID to clear security. The right-hander then became "angry and aggressive" with a TSA agent before cops cuffed him.

Romo was taken to the airport’s police station, where he was cited for violating airport rules. He was then released but wasn’t allowed to fly, as he was instead escorted off the airport grounds. TMZ reports that, according to law enforcement sources, Romo appeared to be under the influence.

Romo continued his success with the Giants last season, posting an ERA of 1.79 and 14 saves over 69 appearances with 10.2 strikeouts and 1.6 walks per nine innings.
