It is about that time of the offseason when many teams have made their big moves and are now starting to tinker with minor-league rosters to add depth. Many players have moved around the past few days, though several of them are players you (and I) may have never heard of.
Here are some of those moves, starting with the American League:
Signings
- The Kansas City Royals have signed right-hander Blaine Boyer to a minor-league contract, the team has announced.
- The Royals have also inked the "other" Chad Tracy -- an infielder as well -- to a minor-league deal, reports Matt Eddy of Baseball America.
- Eddy also reports that the Cleveland Indians have signed second baseman Matt Antonelli to a minor-league deal.
Other Moves
- The Baltimore Orioles have released 18-year-old right-hander Elvis Duran because of an elbow problem, reports Ben Badler of Baseball America. Duran was the club's highest-paid Latin American signing in 2011, but appeared in only six summer league games.
