The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Dominican outfielder Ariel Sandoval for $150k, reports Ben Badler of Baseball America:

Sandoval, who became eligible to sign on July 2, trained in Haina with Jaime Ozuna.

The 6' 2", 180-pound center fielder impressed the Dodgers with his offensive potential to hit for both average and power, according to Badler. The young Dominican is also an above-average runner and his arm strength could see him shift to right field if he loses the ability to patrol center as he fills out.

While the Dodgers have been prominent in the amateur Dominican market for years, the signing of Sandoval is their first six-figure deal in Latin America since the club brought on a new team to run their international scouting following the 2012 season.

Los Angeles has been active elsewhere on the international market lately, signing Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu to a six-year, $36 million contract last month. The club also brought on Cuban prospect Yasel Puig on a seven-year, $40 million contract in June before the new CBA's spending limits went into effect.
