In addition to signing those two, Cleveland also confirmed their signing of veteran southpaw Scott Kazmir.

The Cleveland Indians have signed right-hander Jerry Gil and left-hander Edward Paredes to minor-league deals, and have confirmed their signing of former Angels and Rays southpaw Scott Kazmir, reports Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer:

The Indians have signed pitchers Scott Kazmir, Jerry Gil and Edward Paredes to minor league deals and invited them to spring training with the big league club.

Gil, 30, had two very brief stints with the Diamondbacks and Reds as a shortstop a few years back, but converted to pitching full-time in 2008. The right-hander posted a 4.92 ERA and 7.2 K/9 rate in 64 innings for the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate in 2012, his second full season at that level.

Paredes, 26, is still looking for his first big-league cup of coffee. The southpaw showed flashes of promise in his first two seasons with the Mariners organization, but his numbers declined rapidly and was released following the 2011 season. Paredes pitched for Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican winter league, where he posted a 1.93 ERA and struck out 10 in 14 innings of work.

The signing of Kazmir was originally reported just before Christmas, but had not been officially announced by the club until Tuesday.
