The official results are in on the 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame class and for only the eighth time in the history of Major League Baseball, no single player earned the needed 75 percent of the votes for election into Cooperstown.

Debate raged leading up to this year's election process given the steroid era of baseball. Names like Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and others were on the ballot and all earned significant attention as to whether or not they deserved election.

The top three were Craig Biggio, Jack Morris and Jeff Bagwell. The Astros second baseman led the voting at 68 percent on his first year on the ballot. As for Morris, the winner of the most games during the 80s still remains outside the hall, and 2014 will be his final chance on the Hall of Fame ballot.

Bonds and Clemens earned just over 30 percent of the votes for support.

Dale Murphy rose 4.1 percent on his final ballot to lead all players who rose in the rankings from the previous year.
