The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gomez from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor league outfielder Quincy Latimore, reports Keith Law of ESPN:

The Indians designated Gomez for assignment last week. The 24-year-old appeared in 20 games, including 17 starts, for Cleveland last season. Over 90 2/3 innings pitched, the right-hander maintained an ERA of 5.96 with 4.7 strikeouts and 3.4 walks per nine innings.

Gomez has now spent parts of three seasons at the major league level. Over that span of 42 appearances, including 38 starts, he’s posted an ERA of 5.18 with 4.9 strikeouts and 3.1 walks per nine innings.

Latimore spent the 2012 season with the Pirates’ Double-A affiliate. Over 413 at-bats for the club he hit .252/.321/.433 with 24 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 18 attempts. He manned all three outfield positions last year, with 54 appearances coming in left, 41 in right and 31 in center.

Latimore owns a career line of .252/.310/.419 over six seasons at the minor league level.
