Representatives of free-agent right-hander Javier Vazquez told Jim Bowden of ESPN that he will likely not sign with a team until after the World Baseball Classic this March.

Bowden was told that over half of the 30 major-league teams have expressed interest in the right-hander who has pitched with the Yankees, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Expos, Marlins, and Braves. Puerto Rico's general manager, Alex Cora, tweeted tonight that Vazquez threw 95 mph on his 83rd pitch in a side session.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported tonight that Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo was in attendance to watch him pitch, and that the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox also scouted the right-hander.

Vazquez has been a more successful pitcher in the National League -- putting together solid stints in Montreal, Florida, and Atlanta -- while struggling with the New York Yankees on two separate occasions.

Vazquez last pitched in a major-league game as a member of the Marlins in 2011, when he posted a 3.69 ERA and 3.24 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 32 starts.
