Alex Rodriguez injected by clinic operator, according to report

Brad Penner-US PRESSWIRE

Anthony Bosch injected New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez with performance-enhancing drugs, according to a report.

Anthony Bosch, owner of Biogenesis of America clinic in Coral Gables, injected New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez with performance-enhancing drugs, according to ESPN's "Outside the Lines."

The texts, the source said, usually came late at night, telling Anthony Bosch to come to the house. Bosch would then head to the waterfront mansion on Biscayne Bay, through the gate on North Bay Road, to inject performance-enhancing drugs into Alex Rodriguez.

Biogenesis, the south Florida clinic believed by Major League Baseball to be at the center of a widespread doping epidemic, provided similar services for other players. However, those athletes "relied on intermediaries," according to OTL, whereas Rodriguez was visited personally by Bosch. One source told OTL that "only Tony handled A-Rod."

But whatever he was doing, "Tony said A-Rod was pissed at him," a source said. "He said he was bleeding everywhere." - Outside the Lines

Other sources confirmed that Bosch spoke openly about his relationship with Rodriguez, adding that they reviewed documents which detailed the drug regimens and schedules the slugger received.

A spokesperson for Rodriguez said today that the "allegations are not true." Bosch has called the allegations "all wrong."

Bosch reportedly presented himself as a physician, though he didn't have a medical liscense. He made headlines four years ago when he was identified as having provided human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) to Manny Ramirez. In that instance the DEA never opened an investigation into Bosch despite urging from MLB officials.
