The Brewers have been looking for a first baseman since the injury to Mat Gamel.
The team is not in on the recently-DFA'd first baseman Mike Carp, but Carp is expected to be traded soon. The former Mariner has attracted interest from many teams, but despite the good fit the Brewers are not one.
The team is willing to go with internal options such as Hunter Morris, Taylor Green, and even shortstop Alex Gonzalez. The team has said that they would be interested in using Gonzalez in a similar fashion to how the Rangers used Michael Young the last few seasons, which means bouncing him around the infield.
Milwaukee has no interest in free agents including Carlos Lee. Lee played for the Brewers earlier in his career.
The team prefers the versatility of some of the aforementioned options, as they do not see Carp as anything other than a first baseman.
For a team that had Prince Fielder just a few seasons ago, this has been a long way to fall.
