The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed free-agent right-hander Mark Lowe to a minor-league contract with an invite to big-league camp, reports Jerry Crasnick of ESPN:

Lowe, 29, will earn a base salary of $1.5 million if he makes the Dodgers' roster out of camp, though that number could increase to as much as $2.1 million with incentives.

The Dodgers were one of several teams in attendance when Lowe threw an open bullpen session in Peoria, Arizona, a little over a week ago (alongside fellow veterans Ryan Rowland-Smith and Kip Wells), so it appears as though the club liked what they saw from the right-hander.

Lowe pitched out of the Texas Rangers' bullpen for the last two-plus seasons, amassing a 3.92 ERA and 7.7 K/9 rate in 87⅓ innings for the club. The right-hander ran into some injuries problems at mid-season in 2012 -- straining a rib muscle -- but Lowe hasn't had any really significant time on the DL since 2010.

Lowe's main competition for a bullpen spot among the other non-roster invitees will probably be former Braves right-hander Peter Moylan. Even if Lowe bests Moylan in camp, however, his chances of landing a spot in the Dodgers' ridiculously deep pitching staff is probably pretty thin.
