More Blue Jays: Ricky Romero's rough day
Redmond had been claimed off waivers by the Orioles from the Cincinnati Reds last month. The Reds acquired him last season from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for infielder Paul Janish.
Prior to being placed on waivers by the O's, Redmond had appeared in five games for the club this spring. He allowed five runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- with four walks and eight strikeouts over eight innings.
Redmond made his major league debut last season with the Reds. He started one game for Cincinnati, surrendering four runs over 3 1/3 innings. He spent a majority of the season with the Reds' and Braves' Triple-A affiliates. Between Louisville and Gwinnett, the right-hander maintained an ERA of 3.63 over 26 appearances -- including 25 starts. In eight seasons in the minors, the 27-year-old owns a career ERA of 3.58 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.27.
