Bopp adds that Betancourt is currently on his way to Arizona to take his phyiscal with the Brewers and finalize the agreement. The veteran is represented by Miami Sports Management.

Betancourt was recently released by the Philadelphia Phillies. He was competing for a reserve infielder role with the team. Prior to being cut loose, the 31-year-old hit .447/.451/.574 with three doubles and one home run over 51 plate appearances this spring. The Phillies released the infielder to allow him time to find a more regular major league role.

Betancourt spent the 2011 seasons with the Brewers. Over eight seasons in the majors, he owns a career batting line of .266/.290/.392.

The Brewers recently placed infielder Taylor Green on the disabled list with a hip injury. Betancourt offers the team a veteran backup at third, short and second for Aramis Ramirez, Jean Segura and Rickie Weeks.
