Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia has been sent for tests after an undisclosed injury.

Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia has been sent to New York for further tests after the team found an undisclosed injury in his physical, reports Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

The pitcher missed 2011 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but he recovered and was healthy enough to pitch most of last season. He figures to play a role in the team's bullpen in the near future, and further injury to him would be a crucial blow for the right-hander.

Mets manager Terry Collins was asked about the injury, but did not seem to know too much, as he just said that he was told Mejia needs to be checked out and that he would be scratched.

Mejia arrived late to camp this year due to an issue with his visa, which led to investigation of his identity. While it turned out that the visa issue would come to pass, it should be interesting to see what becomes of this injury.

He made one appearance this Spring Training, allowing five runs in one inning of work. That was back on February 26th. The article mentions that he was likely headed to the Las Vegas rotation regardless of any potential injury now.
