Despite rumors to the contrary, the Braves have not talked about dealing lefty reliever Jonny Venters.
O'Brien went on to say that even though they have not internally discussed it, does not mean that the team will not consider it in the future. This is in response to recent reports that the team was shopping the reliever.
More Braves: Trade Ideas
Suitors for the 27-year old lefty would be a wide range of teams, as a flame-throwing lefty is a desirable commodity. Venters has a career 2.23 ERA over the past three seasons, all of which are with the Braves.
Atlanta has a bit of a relief-surplus, as the team has stud closer Craig Kimbrel currently manning the closer spot.
It is unlikely that Atlanta could get a king's ransom for the lefty, but they could get a useful bench piece or low-level prospect back if they were to play their cards right.
A word of caution would be that pitchers can drop like flies, so it might be a good idea to keep Venters around in case of injury to Kimbrel.
