Dylan Bundy injury: Orioles prospect to resume throwing program

Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE

Baltimore Orioles top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy has been cleared to resume a throwing program.

Baltimore Orioles top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy has been cleared to resume a throwing program after being shut down due to elbow discomfort earlier this month, according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.

The Orioles placed Bundy on the minor league disabled list after he complained of discomfort in his right elbow. After undergoing rest and rehab, the right-hander is now playing catch pain-free, according to Ghiroli. He will continue rehabbing at Baltimore's spring training facility, as he's slated to resume a throwing program today.

The O's selected Bundy No. 4 overall in the 2011 MLB Draft. He's since been a regular among the game's top prospects, and he entered the season considered the best pitcher in the minors by Baseball America and MLB.com.

Bundy made his major league debut last season as a 19-year-old. He appeared in two games, allowing no runs with two hits and a walk over 1 2/3 innings. Spending a majority of the season with Baltimore's Single- and Double-A affiliates, Bundy posted a combined ERA of 2.08 over 23 starts with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4.25 in the minors.
