Injury notes: Pagan, Crisp, Hosmer

A few players missed games today with minor injuries.

A few players were held out of their team's games today with minor injuries. None of the following players are currently expected to need time on the disabled list, but their injuries are worth monitoring to make sure each player has a full recovery.

Pagan sits with wrist injury

San Francisco Giants oufielder Angel Pagan was scratched from Saturday's starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs with a sore right wrist. Pagan injuried the wrist making a sliding catch in Thursday's game, and needed to ice the wrist after Friday.

Bruce Bochy said Pagan was healthy enough to be used as a pinch-runner, but not as a pinch-hitter. Despite his comment to the media, Bochy used Pagan as a pinch-hitter, and had Pagan man centerfield in the bottom of the ninth.

Crisp out with a groin strain

Oakland Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp is currently battling a slight groin strain, and was not in the team's starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers. Bob Melvin removed Crisp from the game after discovering that fellow outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was also hurt. Oakland placed Cespedes on the 15-DL this morning.

Crisp is not expected to need anytime on the disabled list, as Melvin is describing his injury as day-to-day. Oakland has enviable outfield depth, starting Chris Young and Seth Smith today in place of Crisp and Cespedes with Michael Taylor on the bench.

Hosmer misses second straight game

Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer was held out of the team's starting lineup for the second straight game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Hosmer is nursing a sore right quadriceps muscle and the problem dates back to spring training, according to beat writer Bob Dutton.

Manager Ned Yost is not worried about Hosmer's injury despite the recurrence. Yost said that Hosmer should be ready to play in the series finale on Sunday.
