Sox sign Snyder
Speier notes that Snyder will report to Triple-A. He has experience playing first and third base as well as both corner outfield positions during his time in the majors.
Snyder signed a free agent contract with the Texas Rangers last offseason. He appeared in 40 games for the club last year, hitting .277/.309/.446 with five extra-base hits in 69 plate appearances. The 26-year-old also spent time with Texas' Triple-A affiliate, maintaining a batting line of .253/.286/.402 with nine extra-base hits over 92 plate appearances.
The Rangers released Snyder last week. Prior to being cut lose by Texas, he hit .154/.258/.308 over 31 plate appearances this spring.
Huff outrighted to Triple-A
Cleveland Indians left-hander David Huff has been outrighted to Triple-A, the team has announced. Huff was designated for assignment over the weekend after being notified that he wouldn't break camp with the Indians. The 28-year-old owns a career ERA of 5.30 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 1.62 over parts of four seasons in the majors.
