Minor Moves: Brent Lillibridge, Charlie Leesman, Alberto Gonzalez

All the latest moves from down on the farm: The Cubs option two utility players and the Rangers and Braves add some arms to their farm clubs.

Cubs utility man Brent Lillibridge has cleared waivers and is headed to AAA Iowa, according to Carrie Muskat. Lillibridge is 1-24 for the Cubs this season in nine games.

The Cubs also designated infielder Alberto Gonzalez for assignment to make room for the newly acquired Julio Borbon, the team reported via press release. The 30-year-old Gonzalez has hit .217/.269/.391 in 26 plate appearances while playing second and third for the Cubs.

The Cubs also parted ways with 28-year-old righty Jensen Lewis, tweets Carrie Muskat. Lewis had posted a 17.18 ERA in 3 2/2 innings prior to his release as a reliever with the Cubs AAA affiliate. He last pitched in the majors in 2010 as a member of the Cleveland Indians, posting a 2.97 ERA in 36 1/3 innings.

The Rangers have claimed left-handed starter Charlie Leesman off from the White Sox after Chicago waived the 26-year-old minor leaguer. Leesman was 12-10 with a 2.47 ERA in AAA last season for the White Sox. He has five days to accept or reject the Rangers claim.

The Braves have signed minor-league deals with pitcher Erik Hamren and first baseman/ left fielder Nick Weglarz, according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America. The 26-year old Hamren reached the majors in 2011, pitching 12 1/3 innings with the Padres. Last season, he threw 47 innings with AAA Tucson posting a 4.40 ERA for the Padres affiliate. The 25-year-old Weglarz spent 2012 at AA Akron in the Indians farm system, hitting .239/.349/.413 in 436 plate appearances.
