More Reds: Reds reposter

Prior to signing with the Reds, MacDougal had thrown a bullpen session for prospective suitors over the offseason.

MacDougal appeared in seven games for the Los Angeles Dodgers last year, allowing five runs on nine hits with six walks and four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. He was then released by the Dodgers in May and went on to spend a brief period of time with the Chicago Cubs, maintaining a 7.85 ERA over 19 appearances for the team's Triple-A affiliate.

Chicago also released MacDougal, who wound up spending the remainder of the season with the Washington Nationals. He experienced more success with the Nats than with the Dodgers and Cubs last year, posting a 4.22 ERA over 10 2/3 innings in Triple-A.

MacDougal has spent 12 seasons in the majors with the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Dodgers and Nationals. He's been a closer in the bigs, maintaining a career ERA of 4.00 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 1.53 and 71 saves.
