The outfielder is currently dealing with a left oblique strain.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Rajai Davis on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain, and called pitcher Chad Jenkins up from Double-A New Hampshire to take his spot.

Davis had to leave Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox in the sixth inning after limping down the first base line running out a groundball. The outfielder told the media that he felt the injury was minor, and he could play through it.

The outfielder has been an average hitter for the Blue Jays this season, hitting .284/.326/.395 in his first 87 plate appearances. Davis has used his speed well this season; he is tied for third in the American League with eight steals and according to Fangraphs, has been the sixth-most valuable baserunner in baseball.

Jenkins is the Blue Jays 2009 first-round draft pick, and will start for the team against the Red Sox on Sunday. The 25 year-old was on a rehab assignment in Double-A, and threw five innings on Monday.

The right-handed appeared in 13 games for Toronto last season, including 3 starts. Jenkins posted a 4.50 ERA over 32 innings last season, but will need to improve his 4.5 K//9 ratio to find success at the major-league level.

Brandon Morrow was supposed to start on Sunday against Boston, but his start is being pushed back until Wednesday. Morrow suffered neck and back spasms on Tuesday.
