The right-hander is dealing with a bout of biceps tendinitis.

The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Alexi Ogando on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with biceps tendinitis, reports T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.

Ogando complained of soreness in his biceps during his Wednesday start, and found himself officially sidelined the next day. The injury didn't seem to have much of an effect on his performance -- he tossed six innings of four-hit, two-run ball against Oakland on Wednesday -- but the team opted to err on the side of caution nonetheless.

The results of Ogando's Thursday MRI have not been revealed as of yet, but manager Ron Washington said that the injury is minor, and that the DL move is an attempt to "nip it in the bud," per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

The 29-year-old is off to a great start to the 2013 season -- 3.08 ERA and 6.7 K/9 in nine starts -- but the extra workload of being a full-time starter may be taking its toll on the right-hander's arm. Ogando made 29 starts for the Rangers in 2011 but spent 99 percent of last season working out of the bullpen. As a result, he's already eclipsed 75 percent of his innings pitched total from 2012.

Right-hander Josh Lindblom will start in Ogando's place on Monday, but will not be called up from Triple-A until then. Part of December's Michael Young trade, Lindblom will be the first pitcher the Rangers have started on the mound this year to see any time with another big-league organization.

In the meantime, right-hander Cory Burns has been promoted to bolster the bullpen over the weekend. Acquired from the Padres over the winter, Burns was off to a great start at Round Rock, posting a 1.38 ERA and 12.5 K/9 in 13 innings of relief.
