The Phillies starting pitcher is going to visit a doctor tomorrow and undergo an examination on his shoulder.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Roy Halladay is going to see Dr. Lewis Yocum about his sore shoulder and will likely be placed on the disabled list, general manager Ruben Amaro told the media on Sunday.

Halladay told reporters that his shoulder has been bothering him since April 25, and that the injury has progressively worsened over the past few weeks.

The injury appears to have limited Halladay's effectiveness as a pitcher, as the two-time Cy Young Award winner has been shelled by the Cleveland Indians and the Miami Marlins in his last two starts. Halladay has surrendered 17 combined runs in six innings over his previous two starts. The Marlins start was especially shocking, as Miami has struggled offensively this season and was playing without right fielder Giancarlo Stanton.

Halladay is 2-4 on the season with an 8.65 ERA. The starting pitcher has not lost his ability to strike hitters out, but has struggled with his control with 4.46 BB/9, well above his career average of 1.88 BB/9. Halladay has also surrendered far too many home runs' the 35 year-old has given up nine home runs in just 34.1 innings this season.
