TRADE TALK: Dodgers talking to Marlins about Nolasco

The latest update on the Nolasco watch is that the LA Dodgers are in deep talks to acquire the Marlins 30 year old righty Ricky Nolasco. The latest info is coming from Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles. The Marlins will eat some of the contract if they believe it will net them a better prospect in return. This might help appeal a team like the Dodgers whose payroll is the highest in MLB.

Though the Dodgers currently sit last in the NL West they feel this move can get them back into the top of the division. It wont take much in a very tight NL West to get back to the top were only 6.5 games separate the leader of the division to the last place Dodgers.

They see this move as a move that will add stability to a rotation that has been tampered with injuries like Greinke's or inconsistency from the back end of the rotation. Nolasco has pitched to a solid 3.68 era in a 100 and 1/3 innings. His record of 4-7 does not fairly represent his pitching this year when you consider the lack of run support he receives from the worst offense in the majors.

We will see Nolasco pitching for a new team because he will not be pitching for the Marlins much longer and there is a good chance it will be for a team in the NL West.
