USA TODAY Sports

Sources have confirmed to MLBDailyDish.com that two Atlantic League players signed with major league organizations today.

Rays sign RHP Michael Colla

The Tampa Bay Rays signed right-hander Michael Colla and assigned him to Double-A Montgomery, according to a source. Colla, a fourteenth round pick of the Pirates in the 2008 draft, has spent the season with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League after being released by the Pirates in March, and is 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA in nine starts. In five years in the Pirates system, Colla is 20-30 with a 3.90 ERA in 162 games. He last appeared with Double-A Altoona in 2012.

White Sox RHP Michael Nix

The Chicago White Sox have signed right-hander Michael Nix and assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte, according to a source. The 30-year old former Braves prospect has been dominant for the Atlantic League's Sugar Land Skeeters this season, posting a 5-1 record and 1.81 ERA in 44.2 innings of work. In eight seasons of minor league ball in the Braves and Rockies organizations, Nix is 35-33 with a 3.76 ERA in 325 games.
