UPDATE: PEAVY HAS BEEN TRADED TO THE RED SOX. STORY HERE.
A blockbuster might be in the works. According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks are in talks about a 3-team deal that would send Jake Peavy to Arizona and Ian Kennedy to Anaheim.
Hearing buzz about 3-way trade talks: Peavy to #dbacks, Kennedy to #angels. Not sure who #whitesox would get.

While the players who would head to Chicago in the potential deal remain unknown, it is likely that the D-Backs would pay the highest price in terms of prospects. Pitchers Tyler Skaggs, Zeke Spruill and Archie Bradley Jr. could be among the names in play due to the South Siders' high price tag on Peavy. The D-Backs, Athletics, Red Sox and Cardinals were still in on Peavy as of this morning, with Arizona seeming to be the frontrunner.
The Angels, who are joined by the Padres and Cubs in pursuit of Kennedy this afternoon, would probably send salary relief to Arizona so that they could take on the remainder of Peavy's contract. The Halos may have to give up a prospect or two to Chicago in the deal as well.
By no means is this deal done, or even close, for that matter. But the discussions signify that the teams are getting creative in their attempts to bolster their rosters for the stretch run.
