Orioles trade rumors: Baltimore interested in Morneau, Norris, Perez, Morse

The O's look to be aggressive buyers on deadline day.

Although the Baltimore Orioles have already acquired Scott Feldman and Francisco Rodriguez this month, the team is far from done with their trade deadline buying. According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com, the team is still actively involved in talks with the Astros for Bud Norris and the Twins for Justin Morneau. ESPN's Tim Kurkjian notes that the team's interest in Morneau is not strong, but he is still a name to file away as the deadline approaches.

In addition, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team covets Mariners assets including Oliver Perez, Kendrys Morales, Raul Ibanez and Michael Morse, so those teams could try to work out a deal before the end of the day. Seattle has previously shown a lack of interest in selling veterans, but Morse has reportedly become "very available" in the last few days.

Connolly says that the Orioles have not had recent talks with the Angels for Jason Vargas, who was viewed as a backup plan for Norris. Vargas is currently injured, making him an August trade candidate.

Out of all of the players mentioned, Norris and Morse seem like the most likely to be traded. The Braves, Giants, Pirates and Diamondbacks have also been linked to Norris, but the Astros' price may still be too high for a deal to get done.
