UTL Elliot Johnson claimed on waivers by Atlanta.— Bob Dutton (@Royals_Report) August 21, 2013
Johnson plays both middle infield positions and is a very good defender. At the plate, Johnson is hitting .179 with a .218 OBP with 14 steals on the season. He hits from both sides of the plate and has a career batting average of .212. While he isn't a very good hitter, he does steal bases very well.
With Dan Uggla out after having eye surgery and Tyler Pastornicky having knee surgery, Atlanta needed a utility infielder. The Braves will be Johnson's third team. He previously played for the Rays in '08 and '11-'12 and has spent the majority of this season with the Kansas City Royals.
