Stassi was called up on Tuesday to take the place of injured backup catcher Carlos Corporan, but was hit in the face by a pitch from Tanner Scheppers during Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers. Stassi, a fourth round pick of the Oakland Athletics in 2009, was acquired by the Astros last offseason as part of the trade that sent Jed Lowrie to the Athletics. John Sickels rated him as the 19th best prospect in the Astros' system entering the season.
Before his injury he played in two games for the big league club , registering two hits in six at-bats.
Clark has spent the past eleven seasons in the minors without receiving a big league call up. He was originally drafted out of Wichita State University by the Texas Rangers in the 11th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft. He signed a minor league contract with Houston this past offseason after spending all of 2012 with Kansas City's Triple-A affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska. He has hit .212/.250/.265 this season in 46 games split between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
