The reliever is likely to make an impact in the major leagues this season for the O's.

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired right-hander Preston Guilmet from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor-league infielder Torsten Boss, according to a team announcement. Guilmet, who was designated for assignment by Cleveland last week, was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.

Guilmet, 26, made his major league debut for the Indians last season, surrendering six earned runs on eight hits over 5.1 major league innings. He was excellent out of the bullpen at Triple-A Columbus, posting a 1.68 ERA and 20 saves in 49 appearances. Orioles' GM Dan Duquette told reporters, including MASNSports.com's Roch Kubatko, that he expects Guilmet to be a major league contributor this season.

Boss, 23, was Baltimore's eighth round pick in the 2012 draft and began this season with High-A Frederick. He hit .238 with 7 HR and 45 RBI in 106 games with Single-A Delmarva last season, and is the owner of a lifetime .245 average with 12 HR and 72 RBI in three minor league seasons. He primarily plays second and third base, and will be assigned to Single-A Carolina in the Indians' organization.
