Trades that need to happen!

What's up guys! I've posted before on this site, mostly about trade ideas, free agent signings, etc. I have a passion for MLB and enjoy following the movement of players to new addresses in both the offseason and deadline deals. In this post, I will list a few hypothetical trades that I've thought up that I think would make sense for both teams.

1. CHC - Jeff Samardzija for
TOR - Aaron Sanchez, Anthony Gose, Sean Nolin, and A.J. Jimenez

The Cubs are most likely not going to win before Jeff Samardzija becomes a free agent. With that being said if they can't re-sign him then the next best option is to trade him. Toronto is currently in first place but with pressure from the Orioles and Yankees. This is the type of move that could put them ahead of the other teams in the division. Sanchez is a future front of the rotation type and Gose projects to be a centerfield lineup catalyst type. To my knowledge Almora is currently the only legitimate starting centerfielder in the Cubs minor league system right now and he's still a few years away from making the big league roster. Nolin looks like a future workhorse lefty which is always a welcome addition to a major league rotation and Jimenez is a plus defensive catcher with contact hitting ability to round out the deal. All in all, a win for both sides from my view.

2. TB - David Price for
TEX - Jorge Alfaro, Luke Jackson, and Jurickson Profar

I still think the Rangers are the best fit for David Price. With the emergence of Odor and the presence of Andrus, Profar is somewhat expendable due to the injury. With that being said, I don't think any AL team is really out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Texas has a great second half and takes one of the two wildcard spots and Price would only help that cause. Even if they don't win this year, Price still has one year left of arbitration. Price would give the Rangers probably the best one two punch in the game with Yu Darvish. The one position that has been a revolving door for the Rays is catcher. If they get Alfaro that could change. He has the tools to be an above average catcher defensively with a great arm and a lot of power offensively. Jackson is another starter or reliever type with good stuff questionable command. The Rays are usually good at taking in those types. Profar obviously was the best prospect in MLB a year ago and still appears to be a legitimate commodity at shortstop in upcoming years.

3. SD - Huston Street for
LAA - Alex Yarbrough

Street would obviously give the Angels a proven closer which would essentially give them security in their biggest area of need. The Padres are going nowhere and Yarbrough is an under the radar type with excellent hitting ability which is something the Padres could use. An average second baseman defensively, his bat will put him in an everyday lineup he could be a Scooter Gennett type from Milwaukee but with switch hitting ability.
