The Reds kicked off their trade deadline by dealing Johnny Cueto to the Royals, and they appear to be at the very least listening to offers on Aroldis Chapman.
Sources: Diamondbacks, Reds are talking about Aroldis Chapman. D'backs doing due diligence on him. Ask is huge, but may be something there.

Arizona was also mentioned as a potential suitor for Cole Hamels, and this update on Chapman is another unexpected revelation. While the team has hung around the .500 mark all season, they haven't convinced anyone that they're a serious contender, and hearing them connected to high priced talent like Hamels and Chapman is surprising.
Steve Gilbert, the D-Backs beat writer for MLB.com, spoke to GM Dave Stewart, who confirmed the reports, and said "I'm going to go down that path and see where it takes us", but to his own admission, said he wasn't sure whether something materializing with Cincinnati was likely to happen. Stewart also added that he wouldn't do anything do hurt the team in the long-term, but that's a little hard to believe given how fresh the Touki Toussaint trade still is.
