Devil Rays reliever Juan Salas received a 50-game suspension Monday after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention Program. Salas is 1-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 15 games in 2007. Salas made his major league debut last season, after spending seven seasons in the Rays farm system. This is a blow to the already
struggling Rays
because not only has Salas proved to be an effective pitcher in the bullpen, but it will add a new face to the clubhouse and along with Ruddy
Lugo being optioned, you'll see two completely different faces come Tuesday. Salas is eligible for return on July 1st in Cleveland.
