Braves Join Furcal Hunt

The Braves have entered in the Rafael Furcal sweepstakes, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Furcal spent nine seasons with the Braves, going back to 1996 when he was signed out of the Dominican Republic. According to sources close to him, Furcal would much rather play in Atlanta or Los Angeles, making this a distinct possibility.

He might intrigued by the possibility of joining the Braves because it means the Braves can move either Kelly Johnson or Yunel Escobar for an All-Star caliber player. The Cardinals reportedly have an offer on the table that would send them Ryan Ludwick for Johnson, but no word if the offer still stands. Because they missed out on Burnett, they could go after Matt Cain using Johnson or a Red Sox young pitcher for Yunel Escobar. It's worth a call.

BRAVES SIGN FURCAL, KEN ROSENTHAL IS REPORTING. 3 YEAR DEAL WITH A VESTING OPTION.
